My son and I visited in our search for a new mattress for his bed. Aimee was friendly, supportive and more. We absolutely appreciated the things we learned; most of all how passionate this local small business has for ensuring the very best specification and quality to suit our sleep needs. Aimee continued to check in with us through our journey to purchase. We have another purchase to make soon – and we will visit The Carriage for this.

I had made a diary note to revisit nearer Christmas as I felt confident you were the company to deal with particularly as you are local and would be supplying a locally made bed with natural materials. Another point is the quality of pre-delivery and your husband’s calm approach when he viewed our turning staircase and parking problems with our old listed building. If this had been a major chain the delivery men would have turned away!

First class service and excellent products – definitely worth a visit! In a world where everyone is shopping online or at the large high street retailers, it is refreshing to have local businesses like The Carriage around. We live locally and have recently purchased a new bed and mattress – the friendly staff have a real understanding of the different products, which are competitively priced and very flexible regarding delivery options. Again when it came to delivery, the staff were courteous and polite – and the box of chocolates was a really nice touch! They are not just a bed shop though, they stock a wide range of home furnishings and accessories – if you are looking for something a bit different, or a gift, they have some really lovely stuff, and reasonably priced. Would definitely recommend a visit!

I was unable to go to their store myself being abroad, and he is unable to travel, but they spent time understanding his needs and selected, delivered and fitted the right mattress, frame, bedding and sheets. My father sleeps very well and I am very grateful. Later I was able to visit, and finally meet Vicky the owner, and she is as friendly and helpful in person as she was on the phone and the store has the widest range options I have seen in the area.
Just a note to say many thanks for your superb after sales service and for acting so quickly to rectify the problem. This is why I would always rather purchase from an Independent retailer rather than a high street store. It’s all about the customer service. 10/10.
We just wanted to say a huge thank you for making buying a new bed so pleasurable. Nothing was too much trouble and we can’t believe we had our new bed within 24 hours. Your knowledge was brilliant and so helpful. We love our new bed and I am already feeling relief from my fibromyalgia pain. GOOGLE REVIEW 5.0 ***** We recently purchased the Somnus Marquis from The Carriage and from start to finish the service we received was fantastic. We’d heard that The Carriage is the best place to go to for a Somnus Bed as they have so many on display but when you enter the place you instantly get distracted by all the lovely home interiors and accessories. The beds on display are just beautiful and while I was trying the mattresses upstairs in the back of my mind I knew there was a John Sankey sofa downstairs that I needed to check out. Once we’d decided the Somnus Marquis was for us we then chose our divan storage drawers and looked through the headboard and fabric options. There is a colour and style for every type of bedroom design. We’ve always had a double bed but after getting out the tape measure we realised we had room for a King size. What’s great about the Somnus bed is that they go even bigger than a King size and you can order your mattress in two separate halves if your sleeping partner has different requirements to you. I really liked the fact that a Somnus bed is handmade to order and the farm and factory are just up the road from The Carriage. The bed is made with all natural materials and many of those materials are sourced from the Somnus farm. The wool from their sheep and the flax and hemp are grown here in Yorkshire. Our new bed was delivered and installed 3 weeks later (with a little box of delicious chocolates) and we have never been happier. I used to wake up aching and struggle to get comfortable but now I just sleep through the night and wake up refreshed and ache free! Thank you The Carriage for your wonderful service and introducing Somnus to us. We will be back as we need some bedroom furniture and a John Sankey sofa…maybe one of those beautiful mirrors I saw and one of those lamps for my lounge.

Somnus Marquis Mattress We slept in our new bed & mattress last night & are so pleased with our purchase! Incredibly comfortable & certainly worth every penny.

Somnus Legend My husband and I both have problematic backs, we are also very different in height and weight. I had done quite a lot of research on mattresses and had intended on buying another brand stocked at the Carriage. Vicky was very patient with us and explained the properties of both the bed we intended buying and some of the others. She then left us to try them out.
As soon as we lay on the Legend mattress we both agreed we had found ‘the one’. Vicky also told us about the way the mattresses were produced and that they were produced locally which also impressed us. In fact we ended up ordering the whole divan set, including drawers providing us with more storage room.
Since delivery we have experienced some of the most comfortable night sleeps for years. My only word of caution is that the mattress requires regular turning. As it is so dense it is also very heavy which may need to be taken into account, we can only just manage to turn it ourselves.”

Somnus Jewel “What an utter joy it has been dealing with The Carriage. You were very helpful and informative on the products you sell and gave us lots of information then left us in peace to test out the different mattresses at our leisure while still being on hand should we require further assistance. The time scale you quoted us for production was very accurate and delivery was smooth, efficient and very courteous.
We chose the Somnus Jewel and can I say it is aptly named. We started using it at Christmas and it is FABULOUS! Not a cheap item by any means and blimey it shows. Never slept as soundly or comfortably and the achy painy shoulders and hips I used to wake up with every morning are a thing of the past. Coupled with a brilliant new duvet it really is like sleeping in a cloud; never want to get up on a morning 🙂

Vicky and William at Carriage were first class in their advice, expertise and service. To drive to that part of Yorkshire is wonderful in itself but to find a treasure trove of quality and impartial professional service was the cherry on the cake!
We bought our bed from The Carriage. The service was fantastic. Vicky knows everything there is to know about beds. She helped us find the perfect bed and was very patient with us. The delivery was so smooth with no mess left at all and a nice complimentary box of chocolates was such a nice gesture. We love our new bed and would highly recommend The Carriage. Thank you.
